A Spanish fleet traveling from Acapulco to Manila gets a little off course during a storm in 1584. With the need to repair some ships, the fleet docks in Hawaii big Island. After some tense encounter with the natives, the captain decides to claim the islands to the Spanish Crown.
By 1600, the islands of Maui, Molokai, Lanai and Kaholawe are pacified and colonial institutions are set. The Islands become an important stop for the Manila Galleon. By 1700 all the Hawaiian islands were controlled by Spain and the population had been Christianized.
